Mesothelioma Clinic at Mount Sinai Hospital

The New York Mesothelioma Program (NYMP) at Mount Sinai provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care to pleural mesothelioma patients.

In what NYMP calls a “one-stop shop approach,” mesothelioma patients receive an initial evaluation, follow-up care, and imagining or diagnostic testing, all on the same day.

NYMP is led by Dr. Andrea Wolf, who specializes in general thoracic surgery. Dr. Wolf has extensively researched and published on pleural mesothelioma and lung cancer. In 2022, she received the prestigious Irving J. Selikoff Award from the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization for her work in helping patients.

“A lot of people can go on living for years with mesothelioma. And the goal is to just continue living for as long as somebody is feeling well and doing well.”

Dr. Andrea Wolf, Mesothelioma specialist at Mount Sinai Hospital

Dr. Wolf and her distinguished team provide exceptional mesothelioma care, including medical, surgical, radiation oncology, and emerging treatment options, such as immunotherapy.

The mesothelioma treatment team consists of the following:

  • Medical oncologists
  • Nutritionists
  • Palliative medicine providers
  • Pathologists
  • Psychiatrists
  • Pulmonologists
  • Radiologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Social workers
  • Thoracic surgeons

These mesothelioma specialists develop individualized treatment plans for each patient, combining multiple modalities. The principal goal of treatment is to optimize the quality of life, which means treatment plans will differ from patient to patient.

NYMP is supported by Mount Sinai’s Center of Excellence for Thoracic Oncology for care and research. NYMP also collaborates with the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health on mesothelioma cases.

This center specializes in treating workplace injuries and illnesses, which could apply to mesothelioma patients with occupational asbestos exposure.
